Gravity

In the 4th century BC, the Greek philosopher Aristotle believed that there is no effect or motion without a cause. Gravitation , or gravity , is a natural phenomenon by which all physical bodies attract each other. It is most commonly recognized and experienced as the agent that gives weight to physical objects, and causes physical objects to fall toward the ground when dropped from a height.

The 2013 movie “Gravity” is about this concept in use. All of us living on the earth surface often wonder what happens to astronauts when they are in the space. What happens if an accident occurs at that level so high up, where the gravitational force of the earth does not reach or reach weakly? This heart-pounding sci-fi thriller pulls us into the infinite and unforgiving realm of deep space and gives us that snapshot.

Masterfully directed, with visually stunning cinematography, the movie also makes sufficient room for emotions, drama and a bit of romance, to carry the factual potential of Sandra Bullock as an actress, which we have witnessed for over two decades.

Dr. Ryan Stone, played by Sandra Bullock is a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky played by George Clooney in command of his last flight before retiring. But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving both of them completely alone - tethered to nothing but each other. The movie is about how they work together to survive after this accident and whether they survive!!!

Apparently Neil Armstrong was in absolute awe with the extra-ordinary views of our earth from the space. So much, so that he appealed to all of us, to protect our earth, preserve its beauty.  I can imagine, after watching this movie. No wonder, some are ready to pay fortune for a 5 mins stroll on the space, through Virgin space-ship (Galactic), JUST FOR FUN. And those who can not afford - can count their pennies like me and find a theater showing movie “Gravity” near by. The movie is about to begin, but you still have time to grab a coke…RUSH…RUSH!

Since conceptualization stage, hype has been astronomical and here is the movie that lives up to every single bit of it. I am going with 4.5 / out of 5 this time. A must watch!
