The Largest Internet Attack ever!

Is it just me or everyone experiencing slow internet response for past two days? Heard something like The Largest Internet Attack ever…any clues? Here is what it says; may be our friend Jitender Arora; expert in the security domain can throw some light on this. Jitender?

Other than the scale, which was already among the largest DDoS attacks we’ve seen, there was nothing particularly unusual about the attack to this point. Then the attackers changed their tactics. Rather than attacking our customers directly, they started going after the network providers CloudFlare uses for bandwidth.

Spamhaus, a London and Geneva-based non-profit group which helps weed out unsolicited “spam” messages for email providers, said it had been subjected to “distributed denial of service” (DDoS) attacks on an unprecedented scale for more than a week.

“Based on the reported scale of the attack, which was evaluated at 300 Gigabits per second, it is now confirmed that this is one of the largest DDoS operations to date,”.

At the same time; Internet connectivity is also going to be affected for the next two weeks in India as three undersea cables have suffered multilple cuts. This also confirms there have been multiple fibre cuts on SMW4, IMEWE and EIG cable systems, disrupting communication traffic between India and Europe.

Just when we thought, this is one such area, which is relatively free from raids, attacks, bombing and mugging! Good news is, it is under control, as I hear.

On a different note: “Manuscript Found in Accra” is available now in Amazon & I can't wait to read it! Just ordered it. The book reveals that that we are, what we fear, and what we hope for the future come from the knowledge and belief that can be found within us, and not from the adversity that surrounds us. My favorite of Paulo Coelho series were “Veronica Decides to Die” and “The Alchemist”. Hopefully it will arrive on Tuesday.

Quite late, just finished my studies. Well I’m heading off. Good night all where it is night and morning to those where it’s morning. Love you all. (:)
