I think, people don't always say what they mean. Sometimes, they say what they think you want to hear. Or they say what they think you think they think - which is not quite the same thing, but just as misleading.
What we need is honesty and clarity. That means using both eyes and ears, not just one! Nah; will not work! What you think?
