Mothers are mothers!

Woke up to a few voice messages on my phone from the mother. She said: “Today is Ganesh Puja, don’t eat Non-veg today”. I replied: “Ohh really? Thank you so much, if you didn’t remind me, I had only mutton curry in our fridge, for today”. She continued: “Ohh my God, what shall I do with you, if I was not there, what will happen to you and who will remind you all these?”. She takes pride in coordinating many of these reminder services for all her children throughout the year. I like it too. BTW; I didn’t have any mutton in my fridge at all. I was teasing her, that’s all! Quite a mother! “Mothers are mothers!”.

That’s exactly what Goddess Parvati replied to her husband Mahadev, when he asked: “I am trikaldarshi (who can see past/present/future), not you. Still; how did you make out that your sons are coming home today and you have cooked all their favourite foods?”. Parvati said: “Mothers are mothers. A mother does not have to be trikaldarshi to know that her kids are going to be homebound. A mother feels it naturally, unsurprisingly, in her heart, when kids are are going to be home”.

And today; son of Mahadev & Parvati; Lord Ganesha is home bound.

Ganesha is widely revered as the remover of obstacles, the patron of arts and sciences and the deva of intellect and wisdom. As the god of beginnings, he is honoured at the start of rituals and ceremonies. Ganesha is also invoked as patron of letters and learning during writing sessions.

My warm wishes to all on Ganesh Chatrurthi! May Lord Ganesha filled your home with peace, smile, laugh & lots of good health. Goodnight!
