If you get 90% marks in your exam, you’ll get you a watch!

“Ninety %cent marks laoge tow Ghadi…nahin to phir chadee….Riswat Dena to Papa ne pehle sikhaya!”.

English: If you get 90% marks in your exam, you’ll get you a watch, else you will be punished. This is what most of our parents said. It started at home, where we were taught about corruptions/bribery. This was a dialogue from BLOCKBUSTER movie “3 IDIOTS”, which Chinese Premier wanted to see, when he visited India last month. Indeed Big deal. Ohhh yes, also Jackie Chan is also a big fan of this movie.

That’s not what I wanted to bring up. I was thinking; it is a different world today; no doubt in comparison to last 10-15 years ago. Forcing kids to study engineering/medical science just because it will make them rich or fetch them an alluring job, was a common practice then. No one actually supported children who wanted to pursue music or arts; 10-15 years ago. Then again; there were not many opportunities at that time, what we have today in numbers and in varieties. It comes down to supply because of the demand. But why there is an increased demand today in arts, or in music or in sports? That’s the catch – because we have defined our requisites, to have varieties in our choices and this has called for the increased opportunities.

And this revolution has produced some really gifted and well prepared young artists, in our time. I was listening to these songs today and thought these two singers are just BRILLIANT! How easily they are able to swing the emotions here…through the music?!
