Our scientific power has outrun our spiritual power!

Martin Luther King, Jr. said that: Our scientific power has outrun our spiritual power. We have guided missiles and misguided men. Guided missiles never loose the track but misguided men are always out of track. Lust, anger and greed are like diseases afflicting the minds of people. The variety of problems bedevilling the world today - poverty, starvation, violence, disease and pollution, to name a few – are the symptoms of these diseases.

Dealing with these symptomatic problems through social service will not bring about a lasting solution. As long as we are not freed from slavery to our internal enemies, we cannot be peaceful or happy. And as long as we are not peaceful and happy, we will inevitably indulge in activities that will perpetuate the symptomatic problems.

  1. Politicians divide us, terrorists unite us!
  2. Most people who fight over The Gita, The Quran or The Bible, probably have not read either of the books!
  3. It is dangerous to talk to a stranger but it is perfectly OK to marry one.
  4. We’d rather spend more on our daughter’s wedding celebration, than her education!
  5. Hunger kills a person every 3.6 seconds and over 15 million children every year.
  6. To satisfy the world's sanitation and food requirements would cost only US$13 billion- what the people of the United States and the European Union spend on perfume each year.
  7. Nearly one in four people, 1.3 billion - a majority of humanity - live on less than $1 per day, while the world's 358 billionaires have assets exceeding the combined annual incomes of countries with 45 percent of the world's people.

Guidance is available to us whenever we want. We just have to be reasonably awake to receive it. Then we’ll have all the inspiration we could possibly want.
