Happy Maha Shivratri !

It is Maha Shivratri today - A Hindu festival celebrated every year in reverence of Lord Shiva!

My great grand-father accidentally dug up a ShivaLinga, while gardening in his backyard and my grand-father constructed a temple around for it during his time. Since then believing in Lord Shiva and celebrating Shiv-ratri has been big part of our family customary. According to Hindu mythology, Mahashivratri is Lord Shiva's favourite day. All-day fasting and late-night-long vigil; is what devotees do, to please their favourite GOD today, including myself.

I remember; I used to eagerly wait for this day, in my childhood. JUST Imagine - People, temple, bells, lamps, flowers, decorations, lights, smell of aartis, queues, food stalls, toy-stalls, chanting of the mantra and no studies at all. That’s how much good it used to be.

May God shower his grace today; to all of you for a peaceful and blissful life ahead. Goodnight!

I celebrated the Shivratri at Neasden temple in London today - what a beautiful place it is. Breathtaking!
